Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Kathmandu to Chisopani
Highest Altitude : 2,400 m.
Meals : Nepali Food
On Day 1 of the Chisopani trek, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Kathmandu and driven to Sundarijal, located 15 km northeast of the city. Sundarijal is known for its beautiful waterfalls and is the source of the Bagmati River, which has served as a major water supply for Kathmandu Valley. It's a popular starting point for hikes. Upon arrival, you'll present your ID at the check posts and pay the necessary entry fees for Shivapuri National Park. The trek begins with a hike up stone steps towards Mulkharka village, where you can enjoy views of terraced paddy fields and farming villages. The area is predominantly inhabited by the Tamang community. After an hour of climbing, you'll reach an unpaved road that leads you to Dhaap Dam, which is about 9 km from Sundarijal, taking approximately 3 hours to reach. The dam, recently constructed, helps maintain water flow in the Bagmati River during dry periods. After a brief rest and refreshments at the dam, you'll continue the trek to Chisopani, which is 3 km away, taking around 45 minutes. Upon arrival, you'll check into a hotel situated at 2,100 meters near the Himalayas. After dinner, relax in your comfortable room, equipped with an attached restroom. As temperatures drop in the evening, make sure to wear warm clothing and rest for the night in Chisopani.

On the second day of your trek, you’ll start with a hearty breakfast before setting off on a trek through the dense forests of Shivapuri National Park. You'll climb steep stone steps to reach the ridge, eventually arriving at a pass at an altitude of 2,400 meters. After reaching the pass, you’ll begin your descent through a forest abundant with Rhododendron and orchids, the national flowers of Nepal. The downhill walk continues for about two hours before you reach the Army check post and Mulkharka village. You will then descend for another 45 minutes until you reach Sundarijal, marking the conclusion of the trek around midday. In the afternoon, you will take a local bus or taxi back to Kathmandu, with the local bus providing a more authentic travel experience. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you will have lunch at one of the many fine restaurants around Boudhanath Stupa. Afterward, enjoy a stroll around the stupa, exploring the area and shopping for souvenirs.
