Route

From Pokhara the trek follows the standard Khopra Danda approach to the ridge lodge, then continues westward through Mohre Danda, Fulbari, Nagi village and Bas Kharka before descending to Beni for the jeep ride back to Pokhara.

Culture

The route is dominated by Magar people - one of Nepal's largest ethnic groups, known for hospitality and a distinct hill culture. Some villages along this route have only recently begun receiving foreign visitors.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from shorter Khopra treks?

This version extends the trail through five additional Magar communities and exits via Beni rather than looping back via Pokhara's main trails.

Are the villages welcoming to foreign trekkers?

Yes, warmly. Many homes still rarely host trekkers and treat visitors as honored guests.

What is the food like?

Authentic Magar dal bhat with seasonal greens, millet bread, local pickles, milk tea.

Are the trails marked?

Some sections in the extended areas are minimally marked. A licensed local guide is essential.

How crowded?

Almost empty in the extended sections (Fulbari onwards).

What is the accommodation like?

Mix of community lodges (basic but clean) and homestays (very basic but culturally rich).

Is altitude sickness a concern?

Mild risk above 3,500m at Khopra and Mohre Danda. Most trekkers handle it well.

How fit do I need to be?

Moderately fit. 11 days of trekking with daily distances of 10-15 km.

How are showers?

Limited - mostly bucket showers in lower villages. No hot showers in the extended section.

Can I add Khayer Lake?

Yes - we can extend the itinerary further to include Khayer Lake (4,660m). Contact us for a custom quote.
