Overview

The Khopra Danda Trek is one of Nepal's best off-the-beaten-path Annapurna treks - a 7-day journey to a stunning ridge-top community lodge at 3,660m with face-on views of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South and the Nilgiri range. Operated under a community tourism model, the trail is quiet, the lodges are friendly, and the views rival anything in the region.

This trek is perfect for adventurous travellers who want to escape the Ghorepani-ABC crowds and experience a more authentic, locally-supported alternative.

Trek guide

The Quiet Alternative to Poon Hill

Khopra Danda sits on a long ridge above the Modi Khola valley with one of the most stunning Dhaulagiri perspectives in Nepal. The trek is run partly through a community model called the Khopra Community Lodge Project, where revenue from trekker lodges supports local Magar villages and conservation work. The result is a culturally authentic, low-traffic alternative to the busier Annapurna trails.

Route

This 7-day version starts from Pokhara with a drive to the trailhead near Tadapani. The trail climbs through forests to Dobato, then to Sisdibhum (Danda Kharka) and finally Khopra Danda. The descent returns through Paudar and back to Tadapani for the jeep return.
