The Sarangkot Sunrise Tour is the classic Pokhara morning - you drive up the hill above town in the dark, watch the sunrise paint the Annapurnas and Machhapuchhare gold, and then walk down through villages and farmland to Naudanda. The Classic Pokhara Sunrise
Sarangkot sits north of Phewa Lake on a ridge that rises sharply from the Pokhara basin. At 1,600m it is high enough to catch the first light on the Annapurna range, but low enough to be reached by car in about an hour from the lakeside hotels.
Geography
The viewpoint is about 5 km north of central Pokhara as the crow flies but a 45-60 minute winding drive on the road. From the top a series of view decks face north toward the Annapurna massif. The walking trail then drops westward through villages and farmland to Naudanda.

Trail Description
Pre-dawn pickup (4:30 AM in summer, slightly later in winter). 1-hour drive up the winding road to the Sarangkot viewpoint area. Walk to one of the view decks for sunrise. Light breakfast at a local cafe. Begin the walk down through villages, farmland and the Naudanda ridge - 3-4 hours of easy descent. Lunch en route or in Naudanda. Driver pickup and return to your Pokhara hotel by early afternoon.

Clothing: Warm layer for the pre-dawn cold (fleece + light down jacket in winter), light hiking trousers, breathable shirt, sun hat
